I’ve published a new pattern: Somme toute (Altogether). The pattern is available on Ravelry and Payhip. It’s a beanie worked in the round with a double-ended Tunisian crochet hook.

Not sure how this works? You’ll find details about how to use a double-ended Tunisian crochet hook to work in the round on my website. In this article, I tell you about my pattern Somme toute.
A top down beanie
Somme toute is a top down beanie. It’s my favorite type of construction for beanies with a double-ended Tunisian crochet hook. We start from the tip of the crown in a magic ring (circle). Then we work in the round (technically in a spiral) with increases to create the shape we want for the beanie.

Two colors to underline texture
It is really easy to deal with 2 different colors when you work in the round with a double-ended Tunisian crochet hook. You can use one color only, but the design I imagined for Somme toute works best with 2 different colors. Opt for 2 contrasting solid colors or combine one solid color with a gradient yarn. The spiraling motif is a combination of basic stitches which gives a great texture enhanced with the use of different colors.
Recommended yarn
For 2 of my prototypes I used the yarn Ulysse by De Rerum Natura. For the 3rd prototype I used merinosweet by Le Jardin des Fibres. These yarns are not exactly identical but they fall into the same weight category: sport.
